Glee was fun (I know, took me forever to watch it). Loved Kathy, she was just awesome. It was great hearing Kurt/Chris sing again. Good duets by the boys. "Yeah" for the kiss, subtle, less fan fair than expected. But done as just another event in the show, which is even better, IMO. Though with New Directions winning, means we won't hear much from Kurt of Blaine again, I'd hazard a guess. Unless Kurt goes back to McKinnely or something. Maybe they both will transfer, one can hope.

In other news, crazy week. With the possible change in my job at the post office and the part-time gig at Laserwords (which looks like I can do and still go to school, as long as I'm done before classes start--which is the plan), it'd have been weird enough. But I interviewed with another techy temp company on Thursday, at almost no notice, because they have a position they want me to interview with at Omnipress as a web application project manager. I should have that phone interview next week. And another application I sent in paid off in an interview next Tuesday with Springs Window Fashions as a web designer. Plus I have another phone interview with Weather Central for a Web Designer next Wednesday, time to be determined. Oh, and Quad called me back, saying they might be hiring even more people than they thought, and they will call me back if that happens. Probably no news on that for a few months, so I might have something else by then, but it's nice to know that they did like me, just not as much as someone else.

When it rains it pours, you know?

Quad Graphics called, they don't want me.

I knew I shouldn't have gotten excited about this (or any) job. Hope sucks.

By 2:30 today I still hadn't heard from Quad, so I bit the bullet and called, hoping that I wasn't being pushy or that I'd get bad news. Turns out they were planning on calling me yet today. They have more interviews to do, it seems, and it might take them a week, or two, or three until they have a decision. So my feeling that they didn't have many candidates was totally wrong. But I'm still in the running, which at least isn't bad news. Job hunting is so stressful. I'm super tired today, and it's hard to stay positive.

I had my 80 day probationary review today at the post office. I am not sure I even knew that there was an 80 probationary period. But I got almost all outstandings, with a few satisfactories (I feel like I'm in Hogwarts). This doesn't actually mean anything. I'm not getting more money or anything. And if I had done "bad" I doubt they'd get rid of me. But it's nice to have it on paper that I'm a good worker. Should mean I can get a good reference if I need one.

In theory there is D&D this weekend, so I hope that will be fun and non-stressful. We all might have to relearn how to play and I have to double check where we are in the adventure. I might just tell everyone that we all have to have fun, weather they want to or not. The only free time we have is when we schedule it, and it needs to count.

I just finished the latest story by Chris Lester in his Metamore CIty world. It was a take on The Christmas Carol, using the characters in his world. The "Scrooge" character was more of the dedicated to his work sort than miserly. I was really excited to see the first episode post, since that is my favorite holiday tale. But then the episodes lagged, the last one was posted last week, and I was afraid we wouldn't get the ending. But we did, and I'm happy with it. I really liked when he'd use exact text from the original in his tale.

Still no word/call from Quad. I'm getting discouraged. I'll call them tomorrow afternoon to see if they can tell me anything.

I had a very productive and easy meeting with the state retraining program. I am now all set to start school in the summer, as long as I don't get a new job where I make more than 80% of what I was making at Laserwords. I'm still hoping to hear from Quad Graphics, and then I'll call up the TRA people can tell them I'm no longer qualified. But if that (or another job down the line) doesn't pan out, I can start this summer. I'll be done by the following spring too. The guy I worked with was very helpful and nice. And the best part is if I start the retraining and then I get a good job, I don't owe anyone any money. The goal is to get me hired again. And if I can do that without the degree, awesome. If I need the degree, then I keep studying.

I'm getting a little worried about the Quad job. I feel that if they liked me and wanted me, they'd have called by today. Unless they were still interviewing this week, then I can see them waiting until Thursday or Friday. I'm calling them on Friday if I haven't heard anything by then. Job hunting sucks.

Today has been very annoying. Everything I do is taking 3 to 4 times as long as it should. A simple scan pages and upload them to a web site, takes 2 hours. Returning two smoke alarms and buying one smoke/carbon dioxide detector, takes 2 hours. I feel like I got nothing done.

And still no call from Quad. Every time the phone rings I get nervous. It's like waiting for a boy you like to call, you can't call and rush him, you look desperate, but you also can't think of anything else.

:sigh:

It's been a good and productive weekend. After work on Saturday the puppy and I had a nap, then I cleaned most of the house. We had a good long walk in the almost warm weather too. Paul and I went to bed early and got a decent amount of sleep.

While laying in bed Sunday morning, trying to decide if I should get up or not, Jack called me (with Laura's help). He was eating dinner and saw the picture Laura put in this year's Jack calender of him and I eating together. So he decided he needed to call me and tell me he was eating dinner and that he loved me. A much nicer wake up call than I usually get from my alarm clock.

The rest of the day was me cleaning the remainder of the house (I only have one room left to dust and the bathroom sink to clean). The puppy and I also made a trip to Mounds Pet Food Warehouse for some more food for him. Then I did my Davey Wavey yoga video and had a bubble bath.

We need to go grocery shopping when Paul gets home and then while he's doing homework I'll probably learn more Flash.

I'm really hoping Quad Graphics calls me tomorrow and offers me a job. It'd be so nice.

The interview went well, i think. They gave me the benefits package information, which should be a good sign. And I was right, I'd be one of a group of 2-3 that are setting up a new pre-press textbook layout department. The main department that dose this is in Kentucky, in one of the plants that Quad Graphics got when they bought out Worldcolor, a nation wide printer. They apparently have too much work right now, and this department would be helping out with the work run though that place. It'd be really exciting to be a part of starting something like this up.

And the facility is amazing. In the office I was at (and will be working at), there is a doctor's office, a dentist, an optometrist, a pharmacy, and a gym. The benefits are really great too. I have yet to figure out their acceptance for gays, but I have hope.

The interviewer I talked to kept mentioning "the candidate" and "the interview" and then correcting himself to make it plural. I'm hoping that means they really don't have any other candidates at this time.

The drive took an hour, it might be longer during rush hour. I can deal with that. Heck, with the gym, maybe I can do a quick workout and then miss the bad traffic.

I should hear something from them next week. I'm crossing my fingers, but trying not to be to hopeful on this.

It was so nice sleeping until a normal time. I was up by 9 and it was such a luxury. Not looking forward to going back to the post office tomorrow at all.
