Yesterday was a good day. BFF Becky came into town with family, and after ditching them we did some shopping down on State Street and had a nice lunch at Mermaid Cafe. Then we hit the Charter Center Stage concert (I feel like a tool promoting them, oh well). The concert was free, at the island at the Alliant Energy Center. We saw the opener band, Sunderland, some local kids who won the Charter battle of the bands. They were fine, but like 12--one looked like a Weasley cousin. Then I went to pick up Paul from after he got out of work, grabbed [livejournal.com profile] exarian and we rejoined Becky to see Fritz and the Tantrums (the band Becky was most interested in). We had missed Plain White T's. Last was Panic! At the Disco. They were great, good show. It rained a bit, was cold and windy, but fun. Then we had a late night dinner at Glass Nickel.

It was great seeing Becky, we don't hang out enough.

Later today is volleyball, looking forward to it, being feeling very sluggish lately.

Congrats to Zachary Quinto for coming out, though I guess the article will be out next week. All the cool Sci-fi actors are gay these days. :)

Watching Star Trek reboot in honor of the announcement.

I got to see the first episode of the new season of Dr Who. I bit sad, but I've noticed that is common with this Doctor. Looking forward to the second part, though the plot jumping gives me a bit of a headache.

Wild West Supernatural was funny and cute. Lots of time travel this season. Almost too much.

I hadn't planned to pick up the Warbler's album that came out this week. I had over half of the tracks as it was and didn't really like most of the ones I didn't have. But it was like $2.50 to "complete my album", which is a lot cheeper than buying them all separate. I haven't listened to the new stuff yet. I want to see tonight's episode--and Somewhere Only We Know--before I listen to it. I think I can watch it tomorrow night.

Running on Sunday really caused my back muscles to seize up, I've been sore and had a horrible headache for two days now. I hope it goes away. Need to stretch, do yoga and run more to this won't happen anymore.

Last two days of work have been mind numbingly boring. Stuff that needs to be done, but I've been doing the easier grunt work, since I'm not fully trained on the more challenging and interesting things. Tis part of the process.

This META-Merlin/Arthur is adorable and awesome. Loved it.

I was also really happy to see that podiobooks.com was back up and running. I had caught up with what I had downloaded of Owner's Share and was worried I'd have to wait days/weeks to get more. I'll review it when I'm done, as usual. But it's as good as the rest of the Solar Clipper series.

Also, here's the unedited for TV version of Pink's video I posted about before.

Pink's new video is really good, I should really get more of her music.

I like this video. It has Brent Corrigan and the girl who plays Tamara on Caprica. Music is pretty good too.

Paul and I caught the new BBC show Sherlock this weekend. We both love it and can't wait until the next one next Sunday. It's a modern day Sherlock Holmes and Watson story. Sherlock is awesome, he's insane, snide, uncaring and kinda flamboyant. It's brilliant. And Martin Freeman is great as Watson, as always. I love that Sherlock is hooked on texting.

In other, less fun news, work is overrun with box elder bugs again. Happens every fall, but it's still gross. I have smushed bug stuff all over my floor and desk.

I've purchased all of the Glee music I want that has been released on iTunes so far. It's nice to have a full playlist of that. And I am looking forward to the Glee Rocky Horror show tonight, I think it will be fun.

My promised review of The Conquerer's Shadow by Ari Marmell.

I liked it. After 50 pages I had thought I had the twist at the end figured out, but it turned out that it was a bait and switch. I had continued because I liked the world that was being built, but ended up happily surprised by the ending. I do wish that it had been longer, with more secondary character building, but I think it's targeted as a YA novel, so there might have been a word count limit.

It has a very interesting plot, I'd recommend it.

I won it from Spectra Pulse, a publishing group of Bantam Dell Publishing.

I also just downloaded the new free album from Simon Curtis. I like it a lot! There is a song about being in love wiht a Cylon... come on! Plus some of his songs have gay content. He's more poppy than Jay Brannon, I'll certainly look for more from him and throw him money when I've got some extra.

[livejournal.com profile] exairian was right, the Kissers were pretty boring. Em and I hung out at the show for about 45 minutes chatting, then decided to go the the bar downstairs, the Brink, for drinks and food. We hung out there for a bit, Paul joined us, then we moved out of the bar and into the music venue there to listen to a classical Irish string band and chat with Liz and Marcus.

I got to see more pictures of Jack from my sister. They are home from the hospital already. I'm looking forward to seeing them this weekend. Plus mom, dad and grandma should still be visiting. Seeing pictures of Jack kinda pinged my biological clock (not sure if guys have them, but its the same feeling I think). Still not ready to be a dad, but I still think I'd like to.

Project is on schedule to ship off to the printer in China today. Then a few weeks of file clean up and we are done. Until the national version starts up in May.

Tonight is house chores for me, particularly cleaning the kitchen and some bedroom dusting.

Work continues to get more interesting. Doing a lot of tech art for 3rd-5th grade math books. Interesting makeing geometric shapes in InDesign when the angles of the corners need to be a certian degree. It really wasn't made for that.

I really with Jay Brennen would record/sell more of his songs. I really like them.

I'm getting worried about putting in enough time into the online games now. I think if I reply to every comment I have once a day, it will work. :crosses fingers:

I can't bike on days with early games. But I will start on Thursday (baring rain, though I might even if it is).

Volleyball, food shoping and mowing the lawn tonight.

Bit 'o spamming today...

I watched Shortbus last night even though I've had it for like a month. It was good, kinda weird, but not unwatchbly so. Interesting characters and story. Not hearly as graphic as I had heard. And I have the unrated version. Anyway, Jay Brannan is in it as a cute gay boy and today I found his music on YouTube. I have also now bought all 5 of his songs on iTunes. I like his voice and music. I think Kiki would too, if he swore less. I'll have to see if she's heard him. Ne's in New York, so I doubt he'll be touring any time soon.
