radlilim: (QAF Justin-brandinsbabe)
It turns out in all my moves the last few years I got rid of almost all of my christmas decorations and stuff. All I have left is some ornaments that people have given me. So I got half my list at the stores today and will look for the rest tomorrow. Kinda sad that I got rid of it.

hunting/thanksgiving post...

-- Wednesday

Arrived up north around 8:00. Traffic wasn't bad at all, I was surprised. My sister and her fiance were here already. I took sauna and then we played scrabble, where Rob won. I was surprised to find out that we were not getting up at 5am to get into the woods. Apparently there are really no deer up here from all the wolves killing the fawns in the spring. There is talk next year of hunting down near uncle Jim's. So we are going to have breakfast and then head out to the woods. Dinner is at five. I miss Bob.

-- Thursday

Saw nothing all day, except some flies. I've never seen flies while hunting before, it was a very warm day. It's weird seeing my dad hobbled as he is. I know he will be back to normal after he recovers from the surgeries, but it's still odd to see him not be able to use both arms.

I feel there is some tension at home. Of course it could just be me thinking there is. I find I have little to talk about since I don't feel comfortable talking about my boyfriend. And he's in all my stories.

Thanksgiving dinner was fine. Smaller than other years. The main entertainment was my cousin's kid. Food was good, my sister is becoming a good cook. Hot tubbing now and then more scrabble.

-- Saturday

Still no sign of game, though the podbook I got to listen to keeps me awake in the woods. I don't think the deer can hear it. Went out last night with my sister's fiance and my cousin bowling. I did really well one game with the new ball (my grandpa's) and we each won one game.

My leg hurts and I have no idea why. Getting old...

I'm still very worried about the lack of roommate. I don't want to make Nate think he has to stay just to make sure I'm OK. But I'm running out of ideas on where to find someone. It's worse than dating. Any of my out of town friends want to move? This winter has been totally mild.

The show I really wanted to see this season for Stage Q, the musical A Kiss for Alexander, has now been canceled due to lack of people. Kinda bumbed. Also, I have to do more publicity for the replacement.

Got a email back from one of the places I applied to for a new job. Insty-prints, so I'm not expecting them to offer me enough to switch though.

This amused me... (from [livejournal.com profile] channonyarrow)

A few months ago I watched a web demo comparing Quark to InDesign. Quark just called me to get my reaction to the demo and if I had any questions. I am impressed. We (and I) won't switch, but perhaps they are taking customer service more seriously now.

I'm pleased to find out that I can work and listen to podiobooks at the same time. Lately I've been worried that my reading has been falling behind. So it's cool that I can do both. I wonder how complicated a project I can work on before I loose the ability to concentrate on the podcast. I was a bit worried because I can't listen to the InDesign podcasts and work on other things, but books seem to be ok.

Nina Kimberly The Merciless, which can be downloaded for free from iTunes and podiobooks.com (a great site) is good. I'd recomend it to anyone who wants decent fantasy with a strong warrior female lead. The plot can be a bit predictible, but there are cool surprises. Humorus too.
