Boy do we have snow. Like a foot already? I think. And it's still coming in. And I'm the only one from my half of the building in right now. If I had vacation, I'd leave. But I expect Best Buy to be open tonight anyway, so I'll have to venture out for that as well.

I really wish I was in a place financially where I could move south.

We had our winter softball league meeting yesterday. Went well, I think we have good people on the board. It was nice to see people again.

I also overslept really, really late yesterday. As in my manager called me at 6:30am to see if I was coming in (I'm supposed to start at 5). My alarm just didn't go off, I think I had set it, but then when I took my iPhone out of it again for something it turned off. She was fine with it though. She had actually been late that day too. And on Saturdays no one comes in for their mail for the companies that I sort mail for, so I just worked later until me shift was done.

Today is superbowl at [livejournal.com profile] exarian's, but first we have to do a bit of shopping and get stuff ready to take over. And pick up a new snowshovel. I need one of those, the scooper part on our keeps spinning, which is not helpful for shoveling snow.

Still not a fan of snow.

Our street was not plowed until 10am, it was nice sleeping in, even if I did get up every 2 hours after 4 to see if I could leave or not. After the road was cleared I had to shovel our driveway, so I didn't get into work at the post office until noon, 7 hours late. But I was the only one in my area to get in at all (besides one manager, so I got major brownie points for going). It seems to be mostly past, so I'm hanging with the puppy for a bit and need to job hunt.

There might be some True Blood... we will see.

So I made some adds for [livejournal.com profile] faunus's podcast, along with a bunch of other people. Everyone should go over and vote for the add they think will bring in the most clicks to check out her podcast/stories. I won't tell you which are mine, as that might be cheating, but one of mine seems to be in the running. :D If I win I get a T-shirt!

http://panamindorah.freeforums.org/skyscraper-ad-contest-final-voting-t158.html

And you'all that aren't listening should be.

(I see I have been watching too much True Blood, oh well.)

I should be ordering/making some business cards tonight. I'll post images for the design I pick later.

I found out something interesting today. If I work 39 hours in a week, unemployment will give me about $150 to help with my life while I look for a real job. If I work 40, I get nothing. Welcome to the magic number I will be avoiding like the plague.

I hate snow.

Well, it snowed. A lot. And it's still coming down. Why start the snowy season gradually, right? We got the 4-6 inches the promised last night. It didn't take too long to clear it out, but a half an hour later the cars were covered in a thin layer again. I'm happy the snow blower is working and I had gas for it. I did pull something in my glute, but not too bad.

At the mall now, gonna be pretty dead unless the roads all get cleared. Most of the main ones were plowed, but the road our house is on was not.

Tonight we clean and organize the office a bit. Tomorrow I go up to met mom and grandma (maybe dad) with my cousin Nate to get our trees.

I still hate snow, I can't wait to move.

We had another meeting on my project yesterday, not the one I'm working on / helping with now, but the one I'm supposed to be doing. They still haven't ironed out the work flow, so I still can't start working on the files. The suggestions we had to solve the work flow issue were shot down, without any explanation. They also asked for projections on the schedule. I have about 200 hours of work to do on this project, and it's all supposed to be done by Friday. Which is like 90 hours away. Not happening I guess.

Other project, the one I'm helping with, is having growing pains itself. Following their well known history, they decided to try out new workflows and technology on a complex, live project. So we are having tons of snags, while also being over a month behind on it.

I also ended up with having more PTO that I need to use this year than I had thought. My math must have been off, cause instead of 20 some hours I have to use 40. I think I have too much to do to take off a week, so they might make an exception and let me roll over more time than normal. I had hoped to take some half days this month, I really, really need to clean the house. And do Christmas stuff, like cards and decorate.

I'm not sure I believe all this hype about the amount of snow we are supposed to get, but seeing video of some of the western states, I'm a little concerned.

Not sure I'm going to have time to get all the way north this weekend to get the tree like planned. Might have to see is mom will met me half way for lunch and give it to me.

My other project that suddenly stopped is back. Apparently they just has some copyright issues, not that it was being scrapped. However, this means I have things to do on it now. There is no way, no time at all. Hopefully they can find someone to take it over, since I'm already blowing the ridiculous deadlines on the current project.

I'm tired, working too mush. Getting discouraged with the state of things. Missing deadlines, even unreachable ones, always depresses me. And I am really, really not looking forward to moving this snow. It started before I work up, and is still falling.

Working all weekend, not really looking forward to it at all. Next week we have projected temsps of -40 F with the wind chill.

I wish we could move.

Ick snow.

Over slept, means I had to grab breakfast to eat at my desk.

Project loams, deadlines missed.

Thoughts go out to [livejournal.com profile] channonyarrow and [livejournal.com profile] graeae, hope you two are doing ok with the flooding. :hugs:

I didn't have to go into the mall last night, roads were getting bad and the stores were closing. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] exarian for suggesting I call in.

I hate getting into work before the snow plow gets here to do our parking lot. Granted it didn't look like the city has plowed our road since it started snowing last night either. Why do I still live in this state again? Oh, friends and family, right.

Didn't really do much of anything yesterday after getting home. I think I'm boring. Might have to work on that before it affects my life in a bad way.

Spent an hour this morning shoveling the driveway. That is after the 2 hours Paul spent yesterday. Didn't have the energy to do the front sidewalk, the mail lady will be pissed. I also wanted to get into work at a semi-OK time. Which ends up being about an hour and a half late. No one cares though.

Can't wait for the beach.

The snow sucks.

I got stuck three times on the way home. Every time the people behind me got out and pushed. One thing about Wisconsinites, we do help each other in snow. After plowing though the drifts, I slid through a red light. Then got so stuck on the hill up to my house, I had to park the car and go get Paul. A nice guy helped us push it more and finally got it into the driveway. Which my awesome BF had shoveled.

We were supposed to go see Jess and Lari, but unless this stops and the plows come out, we will stay in.

Have to start thinking about packing for the trip soon. Looking forward to this vacation a lot.
