Jun. 30th, 2008 08:42 amChicago Pride was fun, in general. We got in around 9 on Friday night, driving there was not very much fun, between crazy Chicago drivers and construction. The hotel was nice, but the dinner was had at the restaurant was much lacking. Then we met up with my cousin Jim and went out to one of the gay bars in boy's town. It was a nice place, very crowed. Lots of gays out. Lots.
Saturday we were going to get messages, but the spa that was part of the W hotel was not located in the one we were staying in, so they would have to travel to our hotel, and it was too expensive. So we walked down to Michigan Ave., had breakfast at a cafe off the park and shopped most of the day. Jim met us for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and more shopping. We had planned to finish shopping mid afternoon and make it up to the pride street festival, but ended up shopping late and then resting in the room, so we missed it. We did make it up to one of the observatories at the top of a skyscraper for a great view of Chicago. We met Jim for dinner at a Asian restaurant down near boy's town and then went out to a dance club with him and some of his friends. The three of us wrapped up the evening at our hotel talking.
We overslept Sunday and missed breakfast with Jim, but he overslept too. We had brunch a few blocks off the parade route, met up with Jim and his friend Shin and watched the parade. After 4 hours and two or three rain storms we headed back to the hotel on the ELL and got the car. The parade was lots of fun and I'll have pictures soon.
We stopped in Rockford for dinner and met up with Becky and Drew to visit, since we were in their town.
Tonight I play Jess in softball early. Need to get together with Wendy a few times this week for sure.
