LAN NOW TO ESCAPE IN 2008!
Every swimmer dreams of making the ULTIMATE ESCAPE from the historical island prison located in the middle of the San Francisco Bay! The June 2007 event sold out SIX MONTHS ahead of race day. So you better put it on your calendar now and make it a point to escape from the infamous ROCK!
DESCRIPTION
This is the swim the Anglin Brothers and Frank Lee Morris successfully attempted in their escape from Alcatraz on the night of June 12, 1962. Who knows where they are now? Who cares?!! Now it's YOUR turn! Bragging rights for ALL finishers are free!
PLEASE NOTE
This swim is not for novices. This event is for experienced open-water swimmers only. You should be able to swim one mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.

Pro's: You get a metal, there has not been a shark attack in the San
Francisco Bay for over 100+ years (all the sharks are bottom feeders in the
bay), you get to see breath taking views of San Francisco and of the Golden
Gate Bridge, it takes place during San Francisco's Gay Pride weekend, you
get to see hot swimmers in and out of wetsuits, you get to see swimmers that
are naked swimming the race (I plan on swimming it naked), it's San
Francisco, I need not to say anymore ;-) Last year a 7 year old did it
and so can you :-)
Con's: The water is 60 degrees, shrinkage, it is a 1.5 mile swim &
SHRINKAGE, SHRINKAGE, SHRINKAGE!

Also, I'd probably be in prtty good shape after training for it.
