May. 26th, 2010 12:56 pmI hit the printer deadline on the project that only had me on it. Go team Jason! The other project that I'm helping with is very behind, but today's deadline is for an earlier pass, so we can try and make up time later.
After our meeting a few weeks ago where the president told us that we, the grunts, were responsible for coming up with ways to be more profitable and efficient, we all got a mass email asking for our suggestions on how to accomplish that. I wrote back saying we should focus on ebooks, especially the iPad platform, and start using XML so we can re-purpose our books easier. And I was totally shot down. Apparently one of our Indian facilities is doing that. But at our meeting I came away with the impression that each facility was on it's own to be profitable. I'm sad to hear that we aren't even considering branching into new technologies. We are just going to keep doing what we have been. I think we should be considering growth, but who I am to have an opinion.
Two of our D&D group are hard to nail down to play, meaning we can go a month or more without a session. So we decided to just play the four of us (Paul, Jess, Lari and me). They will each make 2 characters each, so the party isn't too small and I will still DM. They are all really excited about their new characters, as they have a better idea about RPGing and the system and know what they want.
This weekend the four of us are going up north to hang out with my family at our cabin at the lake. No Laura and Jack, but it will be nice to see the family and relax away from the city. This will be the first time Jess and Lari have been up there and first time meeting anyone beyond mom and grandma. Hopefully it will go smoothly. I'm not too worried. Really.
