So Pooley's, the bar I tend to play volleyball at, is raising the price per team by over $100 for next season. We have decided we really don't want to pay that, especially since they really aren't doing anything for us with that money (i.e. new nets, new net between courts, etc.). They are claiming a raise in heating costs--and it is usually frigid in there anyway. So we decided to call around a bit, see about finding a new place. I called a non-bar that I've played at before to see what the details on their leagues are. The guy I talked to offered me a job organizing the leagues for them. Cause "I seemed to know a lot." I turned him down, but now thinking about it, it might be a good idea, depending on how much time and money was involved. Maybe I'll call him back.

I've been enjoying the second season of Metamor City. It's very Shadowrun-esq, high magic and high tech. The first season was great, started with some world and theme building short stories, and then moved onto a 20+ episode long novel. Second season picks up with some of the same characters we saw in season one, but with a completely new story line. Only 2 episodes so far, but very intriguing. The production is really good, it has a full voice cast with minimal sound effects. Episodes can be a bit late coming out, but the writer has a normal job as a teacher, so it's understandable.

I got a sneak peak at Things Unseen this week-end at Ory Con. In his own words, Chris has "attempted to answer your cry for man-love." ROTFL It's gonna be good. Also, Chris is a blast to hang out with and well worth going to see if he happens to be in town.

Hmmm, well we will see, straight guys writing "man love" can be worry-some ;) But he's a good writer, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

It looked like you had fun, I saw the skating tweets. Also his voice dose not fit what he looks like, IMO.

Heh, yeah, I don't think he sounds like he's 6'3" He's also a very good reader in person. MC would still be fun to listen to, even if he were doing all the voices.

Man-love - he said he wasn't writing any sex, which is probably smart. However, there are two main male characters who have a history that is important to the plot. One of them is bi and is presently with a woman. Snark and social tension ensues.

He did a good job with Daniel/Dani, so I'm not too worried. I think he should make Janus gay/bi, cause gay angels are hot ;)

LOL. Yes, they are. I asked him if Janus took some cues from Javert of Les Mis, b/c I was getting that vibe pretty strongly in the latest story. Chris said that the thought had crossed his mind.

I'm pretty sure that the costs for our league won't go up too much, and anyway, I think we signed a contract for the full winter session, so no price hike next session. I also play there on Tuesdays with some other friends in their normal week night league. That is where the price hike is happening. And if they do raise the price for our league, we have other options. No worries :)
