Jul. 16th, 2009 11:27 amI relistened to Prophet of Panamindora last few days at work. I was able to pick up a few new things. Still one of my favorite podionovels/series. I'd like to find/make the time to do some art. But art for this would take some research and testing, as I've not drawn half-animal people before. I have a few picture layouts in my mind and should at least outline them so I don't forget them. What I need is like 2-3 days off where I don't have anything else to do. A sort of cousin of mine (I forget how we are really realated) spent a few months up north at the cabin at the lake by himself working on writting, and that sounds like heaven right now. Though it wouldn't really work for me, as there is too much family for me to really get time off. It's not like I need or want to leave Madison, I just want time off where I don't have to worry about real life. But who doesn't, right?
Ah, one can dream.

It really bugs me that so many fauns are drawn like a four-legged animal standing on it's hind legs. This makes them very sway-backed and awkward, because their femurs and pelvis are still oriented horizontally, like something designed to run along the ground on all fours. My shelts are evolved to stand on two legs, which means that their pelvis and hip joints are oriented vertically.

Date: 2009-07-19 01:53 am (UTC)I have some ideas for Chance stories beyond Prophet. My tentative concept is that he founds the first really organized police force in Danda-lay (as opposed to the primitive city watch). He has this strong social service instinct that's largely thwarted by the fact that he's a superfluous prince. I might do some mystery-style stories with him in that role. He's got the right personality for it once he grows up a little.

Date: 2009-07-20 05:48 pm (UTC)Not so much for a younger prince, though. Chance might be welcomed to choose a non-reproductive relationship because it takes him off the board succession-wise. That knowledge would not make him any happier, though.
Chance almost certainly has a little bit of a crush on Laylan. He's desperate for affection, and Laylan has been kind to him and very patient. (Of course, he's paying for that...) Laylan is also older. Chance wants a father figure, and there's a little bit of parental/ child feeling mixed up in that.
Sham/ Chance is an obviously slash-able relationship. It's so obvious that I'm hesitant to do anything with it in canon, but I might. They do get to be friends. Sham is really close to Fenrah. It's a brother-sister kind of relationship, but it's still so close that he feels replaced by Laylan. So, Sham and Chance are both a little threatened by Laylan and Fenrah's romance.

I also have this image in my head of Chance flaming and totally decked out a gay pride parade. But that'd be kinda AU, I think. :)

Date: 2009-07-20 07:39 pm (UTC)That would be far more likely. Chance is a very private person.

lol. Yeah, that would have to be in some alternate universe.
