3:45, Tuesday, no job yet.

Wonder how long I'll have to sit here doing nothing. Now I could start the new journal issue for the project that I have no idea what to do on, since it's due next week, and apparently "mine" now. The one interveiw didn't work, the other place I stopped at is for a junior web designer. Not quite what I want, but who knows.

Maybe I'll just sign the frelling thing, stop developing new and exciting stuff, so than I won't care when I leave if I can't take stuff with me, and call it done. I think maybe that's what they are doing, dicking us around and wearing us down so much that we will just cave in and be nice mindless drones. I'm trying to fight that, but it's really hard.

I should just sign it and then turn all my attention towards grad school. Cause if I get in I won't be doing this shite any more anyway.

I love being an adult.

Okay, okay, okay, slow down. What is it they're wanting you to sign?

A "standard" intellectual property agreement. Which has a ton of stuff in it that is scary. I think I'll just sign it and stop doing anything that I'd care if they own. Just go back to parseing crap for EP and paging books for the Mac department. Unless they want to double the offer they gave me. Then, since I'll be at a developer's salary for the first time in my life, I could do that for them and not care, since I'll be a marine biologist in a few years anyawy.

My head hurts and my stomache aches. I want this over.

As long as there isn't a non-compete agreement attached (those are nasty nasty) and there is no claim laid to what you might do in your time off work -- yeah, sign it and coast. Do not do anything requiring actual initiative.

If there is a nastygram clause -- I can't tell you what to do. I can only say I won't sign that shit any more, nope nope.

There isn't a non-compete, but some scary stuff about not working for or doing business with customers of Apex. But there is a form that I can list the technologies/processes and customers that I want to be exempt from the agreement. I'll fill that out and be safe.

Plus, it'll take me at least 2 years to get out of school, and then the contract is null and void.

I think I'll be OK, plus I'm not gonna try at all until they double my salary. And not having to punch in will be nice, I think I'll work like 30-32 hours a week. :)

That variety of scary stuff is actually pretty normal, as long as it applies only to your time actually working for Apex. If it applies a year or two out -- then it's a noncompete and it's BAD.

Though, as you say, perhaps not so bad for you. Unless you think you might freelance while in school, in which case fill out the exceptions form VERY VERY CAREFULLY.

FWIW, the possibility of working for an Impressions customer is what got me nearly fired from Impressions back in the day. :)

Sorry for how you are feeling:(
