Visiting the twin cities last weekend was good. Lost of driving and taking care of JP in weather that cold takes a lot of work. But we spent time with Paul's family. I saw my aunt's family, who we stayed with, and Laura/Rob/Jack too. He's walking with help, i.e. leaning on things.

Wish I had more days off. Wish I'd had fewer days off cause now work is getting away from me.

I also have been considering setting up a new year's resolution check list. Paul's doing it and each day he dose one of his resolutions, he gets a star on his check list. A bit grade school, but I do believe that those blank spots where the stars didn't make would be a good motivator. His is set daily, but I don't think I'd do that. I'm too busy with work. But I might make one with a weekly list, vowing to go to the gym at least once a week, do yoga (prob at home) at least once a week and spend at least 1 hour a week doing art/drawing. The problem with resolutions is I feel I'm just setting myself up to fail on them, which is why I don't do them normally. But this time I might give it a try.

It's always surprising when I'm feeling that I'm pretty up-to-date on some aspect of internet life and then I stumble upon something that's been around for a while and I can't understand how I've never heard of it before.

I just found Fanboys of the Universe.

Gay boys.
Talking about geeky stuff.
On a podcast.

How did I not know about this?

I've started listening to 7th Son, one of the first podcast novels out there. I had started it years ago, but it didn't keep my interest. But since it's a "podcast classic" I figured I'd give it a try again. I like it, Hutchins is a good writer and narrator. It's more spies/mystery than my usual Sci-fi/Fantasy picks, but still good.

I am a little unhappy with one of the characters. This isn't spoilery, as it comes out in the traliers, but one of the seven clones is gay. Which kind of implies that it is more of a choice, vs. a born that way thing. Which bugs me. I'm not though it, and if one of the other clones (or the alpha) shows at least a tiny, tiny bit of same sex interest, I'll not mention this again. But if not, and genetically these men are duplicates, just with different influences and life choices, then it marginalizes being gay, IMO.

I tried to find some discussion boards about this, focused on this story, but couldn't drum up anything. It's not enough to make me quit the podcast, but it bothers me and makes me not enjoy a gay character in a sci-fi/mystery story as much as I'd like. Pity.
