I had a good time this last weekend playing the the Felica softball tournament. All proceeds go to the AIDS network, which is always nice to be a part of.

The team was mostly people from the Monday night leagues, with a few others. I hadn't planned to play, but our friend Toni needed a pitcher, and it only cost me $10, so I said yes. I met a lot of great people on the team. While I had known a few of them from Monday's, I had only played with one before. And there were a few new people, some that made it sound like they would play next year on Mondays.

One guy I feel bad that I underestimated. He was smaller than me, kinda geeky, and I wasn't expecting much. Until he started hitting everything to the fence (the one in right field) and getting in field home runs. Just goes to show you can't judge a player by how they look.

I did end up getting stung by a bee though. It was hiding in my shirt and stung me in the arm when I put it on.

We ended up 4th or 5th, I think. We were playing really well in pool play, but lost our first real game, so was in the loser's bracket right away. We won three games there, but was finally taken out by a lesbian team from Madison. Good girls, and good players, so I wasn't too upset.

Blah...

Got in a bit late and almost missed a conference call with a client, cause I forgot about it. And the call was mostly a waste of time anyway. Then I found out that my project that was supposed to be mostly done in India with me doing clean up and QC is now all domestic, or all me. And it's starting up a bit early, and thus overlapping my other project. Not that I have the software I need for the new project yet...

Lost softball again last night. I played fine, it was fun cause it was skirt night. Last scheduled game of the year our team wears skirts, both the guys and the lesbians. Guess who needs to borrow skirts. :)

Have two weeks of make up softball games, then we are done. I'm also on a team for the softball tournament on Aug. 16th, which is a fund raiser for the AIDs Network in the name of Felicia (the girl who died not too long ago).

I was also able to talk to Sam for a bit. He fed Paul and I since he was grilling out. It's been too long chatting with him. Hopefully we can get together more often.

Need to find more time so I can get the house/home stuff done and over time at work. Not to mention breaking Eric at the mall. Need time travel...

Every time I hear Pocket Full Of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield I remember the butterfly release at Felicia's memorial service. Paul mentioned its the same for him. While this could be sad/bittersweet, I remember her fondly. I also remember all of the people that were there for the service. Makes me remember the great community we have here in Madison.

I should get it on my iPod.

The memorial service for Felicia was very nice. There was singing by friends, testimonials on her life and the impact it had on the community, and many people told short stories about their experiences with her. After the service they released a bunch of butterflies to music (I'm kinda curious as to what a bunch of butterflies is called... it's a rabble or swarm).

Now I'm at the mall working, probably till after dinner. It's a beautiful day out, hopefully the weather will hold through tomorrow for volleyball.

Paul is out shopping for puppy supplies. Our deposit has been accepted, so we will have the little guy in July. When Paul gets pictures up I'll post (the lady emails us pictures every week).
