The weekend was a lot of fun. Friday I met up with Joe and Angie after work and the three of us and Joe's puppy (who is kinda old, diabetic and blind) drove off to Milwaukee. We checked into the Best Western, stored the pooch and then went to the check in party. Found some other Madison people, had some drinks and checked in for the tournament. There were 45 teams from all over the country, and one from Canada. We then headed off to some other bars, I think we hit 6, but I don't remember them al. The seven long island ice teas had something to do with that.

Hung-over on Saturday we started playing in the pool play part of the tournament. We played two games to help place us in the correct bracket. We ended up in the lowest one, but that wasn't unexpected. Opening ceremonies took place that afternoon followed by some lunch before our 5:00 first game. I wasn't drinking then yet. We played our first game and lost, so moved to the losers bracket. We went out that night for dinner with a lot of the Madison people, again with me not drinking. That day, Bob broke his wrist playing softball and had to go to the hospital and get it looked at. He was really pissed off that he had to miss out on the rest of the tournament, not to mention the rest of the softball season, bowling and hockey. Poor boy. We went out to a few bars, but I just hung out with people and talked, not drank anything. Bob didn't come out because he had to go back to have his arm looked at, so I went out with Sam and one of our token straight boys (we had one on each team, I think). Got home early for the rest of the tournament.

Next morning we had to play at 9:00, which wasn't too early. We played our way up through the losers bracket to take third place in our division. We were the only Madison team to get a place at all, which is really awesome since we've only been a team for two weeks now. We went to the tournament banquet to get our trophy and have dinner. It was a fun time with a floor show and pictures and stuff. There was a party at one of the gay bars afterwards that we went to. Bob came with and I got to hang out with him, until I had to take care of a very drunk Brian. I was back to drinking but did it in a lot of moderation.

Monday morning we got up, had the complimentary breakfast and then Joe was nice enough to bring me over to pick up Bob. He really couldn't drive with his dominant hand broken and on pain pills. So we drove back to Madison, then [livejournal.com profile] exarian and [livejournal.com profile] niburu33 picked me up to go get my car from Joe's. Long weekend, but a lot of fun. I hope I can convince the team that we should go to Orlando for their tournament this winter.

This week I offered to help Bob out if he needs it, like driving him around if needed. I just can't read this boy.
