radlilim: (SN Dean approves)

I finished Glimpses, the Nightrunner shorts by Lynn Flewelling today. I picked it up with birthday money. It was good. Nice back story insights to the characters. I've been wanting it for a while now, happy I picked it up. And the preview of the next book was exciting, looks like it's less "one of the two boys gets kidnapped," and more like the stories about them I like.

rating: A

I also picked up the Supernatual Anime series. 21 episodes! I've watched the first one. It seems to be mostly rewrites of season 1 and 2 episodes, with some new ones as well. I wish Jensen had voiced Dean for all of it, but it was good. And having Dean doing the leg-guitar pose from Eye of the Tiger as the closing screen was great. I'm looking forward to the rest of them. I'll post another review about that at the end.

We are caught up with American Horror Story. It's pretty good. Not too gory, which I don't like. Zachery Quitino is pretty awesome as a bitchy queen. We've also started Grimm and Once Upon a Time. We'll have to see if we keep with Grimm, need more episodes to tell. Once Upon a Time is engaging.

See, I heard that Flewelling book was more porn than anything else. *ponders* And I really wasn't impressed with the last two books - not at all. To be honest, I haven't liked much since she finished Traitor's Moon. The Tamir Trilogy was... not bad, just weird. And then the last two Nightrunner books just... *wrinkles nose* Put me off it.

There is sex, but it's not anything worse than any fan fic. It's not graphic at all. But she dose show it, and not her usual fade to black.

I agree with the last two books being meh, any book where one of the two get kidnapped I just don't dig. But this book is all short back stories, showing how people met (Sigiel and Micah, Sigiel and Nyasander, Alec's parents, etc.) and how their relationships grew. I liked it.

But I will admit I give a lot more leway to any author that will have gay main characters.

That could be interesting, but I dunno. I didn't even think she was going to write another one. *shakes head* We'll see. I'm not much for little side stories, necessarily. And I really wasn't impressed with the last two books. *puffs out cheeks*

I do give her like a million points for the gay main characters - if you like her, you might like Fiona Patton. I like her main characters in The Stone Prince. A lot.

I have not heard of her, thanks! I'll add that to my big list of books with gay characters that I need to read.

Tanya Huff is her partner - Huff's got some good stuff, too.

Cool, she is on my list. I try to keep the list updated and with me when I'm book shopping, hoping I run into some of them.

They're older - you might need to get the title I mentioned from Amazon or something. I haven't seen them in an actual bookstore in ages.

Who are some of the authors on your list? I'm interested - I haven't read a good m/m story in a while.

Though I do have to say, apparently JR Ward is going to have a m/m book. She's got like 12 hour in this Black Dagger Brotherhood series she's got going on that are all m/f, but there's a m/m relationship that's been highlighted in several because it's like... the sort of thing where they both want it but one's refusing to acknowledge it? So for like seven book they've been dancing around the issue and I kind of wanna kick Ward, but allegedly she's gonna give them their very own book, but would make me flail a little. They deserve a book.

I shared my gdoc with you. Granted, almost all of those I haven't read. It's a list I've been making from recommendations and "best of" lists. So I have no idea if they are good or not, but they all at least have m/m in them.

Cool beans. I looked it over - I've read a good few of those, but there's a chunk of them that I haven't, so I'll check them out. :)
