I stepped on the scale last night, bad idea. I have never before in my life been this fat. No more fast food, that's for sure.

I was telling Paul last night that I think I'd change everything in my life, except him and my sister and nephew (Well, I might move them closer to me). I'm ready to change the world with the power of my mind now. Any time now...

What with all the financial and job stress you've mentioned lately I don't blame you. You'd have to figure out the whole "selling the house and moving from the friends" thing, but if it helps you find a happier and more fulfilling path than I say do it. The only other big thing is finding an opportunity that you can grab and run with. Have you been looking around in state/out of state for such things?

No, I'm still in the time frame that if I sell my house I have to pay back a lot of the money I saved on the good interest rate I got when I bought the house. I have a few more years before I can sell with out taking a penalty. So, I'm not going to worry about it, since it is also a bad time to sell.

And the things I'd like to change are more acceptance from my family, have the time to get into shape, bring Wendy home safe, etc. A lot of the things that are beyond my control.

I miss the days living at Wendrew's house, hanging out with the smacking mackerel crew. That's what I want back, just with Paul there.

Well, Wendy will be home soon enough, and hopefully all of them will be back in the Midwest before long. As for the other things... I wouldn't say all of it is out of your control. Some might seem a little monumental to tackle, but if you take care of the easier things first then the rest will not seem as imposing, whether it's having the time for deal with them in the appropriate manner or the situation resolves itself. The family acceptance may or may never happen, just because (to quote Depeche Mode) people are people. You stay true to who you are and things will resolve as they may.

Yeah, those halcyon days at Wendrew's were great, but the tides of time have a way changing things we can never predict. All we can do is ride the wave, hope we don't wipe out, and only enjoy the blue room as long as necessary.

Just so you know, modern fast food places are often surprisingly healthier than restaurants. You just have to be careful about what sides you get and such. I know I've been preaching to everyone about these silly books, but I really highly recommend Eat This, Not That 'cos some of the things you shouldn't eat are surprising (and it usually comes down to the dressings and sauces and such that they put on things that from the menu sound just fine for you).

Our problem is we tend to try and save money and eat off the cheap menus, and there is very little of healthy value on them. But I will check out the book, thanks.

It's the little things you never knew or maybe knew but only in the back of your mind and never really applied that can save you big time - McDonald's big mac has about half the calories&fat of Burger King's Whopper, Wendy's 1/4 lb burger is surprisingly not that bad considering it's a hamburger, never order fries, never get mayo (or ranch or caesar) on anything...

You might want to check out their website which has some stuff available online for free for you to look up (a lot of the supermarket suggestions and such are on there).

I, too, am at my fattest. And no extra-curriculars to keep me trimmed. I need to remedy that. First I need to find something I like to do though.
