Chatting with tryslora today I realize I never actually reviewed my second stylus on here yet. I think I was waiting until I did a few pieces with it. And now I have done two art pieces for the dracotops_harry fest and I think I can review it. I'll link to those pieces after they are posted.

The Jot is a nice stylus. The tip is a clear plastic disc, with a small connective dot in the center. So it has a very fine point, but won't scratch the screen or protector. There is a bit of skipping, but it's not that bad. There is a cap that you can screw onto either end for protection (protect the disc when not in use, put on the back for storage while you are using it). It's only $20 on Amazon, and totally worth it. I've also started using my finger for a bit of touch up work along with the stylus, which is working well and I don't see a problem with at all (they are at least clean when I'm done, unlike with pencil or charcoal).

I have seen more expensive stylus' that you can make it the only thing that will affect the screen while in use. Which I'd like. It's hard to draw without resting my hand on the tablet.


Part of the success of using this stylus and my tablet for art is the app I bought. I tired out the free SketchBook Plus for a bit, and liked it enough to buy the Pro version for $5. It has up to 6 layers, which is a major asset on drawing (one figure is out of proportion with another, just work on the bad one; Want to layer colors for shading, no problem). It also has a ton of brushes, right up there with Photoshop, so I can use them as needed--I really like air brush for shading. I hear Photoshop is coming out as an app soon, but while I'm sure it'll have tons more features, it's like $20.

I'm hoping with these two items I'll be producing more art, more often.

I saved a link to a preview of another new book from Anne Rice, her start in the werewolf genre, The Wolf Gift. I figure after the disappointment of Angle Time a preview is a good idea. The writing style is again, a bit elaborate or flowery, but at least more happens in the preview chapter than in the last book.

It is still a little slow, but her writing has always been like that. Very slow build up and then sudden action. It has me interested. And they left it at a great cliff hanger. I'm sure I won't go out and buy it this second, but if I see it on sale or used someday I'll pick it up.
