Feb. 21st, 2009 07:36 amThe steak, egg and cheese bagel at McD's is actually kinda good. I was worried it'd be like eating a hockey puck, and while I'm sure it wasn't "steak", the steak flavored meet-like substance was easy to eat and tasty. This has been the highlight of the morning.
We have snow again. Over 2 inches, I'd guess. We don't have winter anymore, we have 3 to 4 mini-winters with a lot of snow, separated by cruel and brief breaks that make one think its all over. Mother nature is a bitch. I hope mom and co. got some of this for their skiing race today, if not we can ship it up.
We had a little pep-rally yesterday to try and help get though this project. Approximate transcript:
Chipper-Cowoker: It will all be over in a week.
Jason: Not really, we won't make the deadline.
CC: Sure we will, we will just buckle down and get it done.
J: Why?
CC: Then we will look like rock stars the the customer.
J: So?
CC: We want that, then we get more work.
J: We do? .oO(Why do we want work from these people?)
CC: Oh don't worry, they are learning from this project, they will do things much better next time.
J: .oO(Doubt it. They've been in publishing for liek 20 years, they wont' learn. Asshats...)
Jason's motivation has left the building. Or to quote a song I shouldn't know "My Give-a-damn is broken."
I really don't have time to snow blow the driveway today. Nor do I have time to go and fix my sink. But both have to get done, I fear I'll be here till midnight.
I missed my deadline yesterday. Too many crashes and problems cropped up, so we got a third of what I expected us to do. And something else was mentioned. When the English student edition was nearing the printer date, the lead on it worked 16-18 hour days to get it done on time. So when I say "We won't make the deadline because about 60% of my pages will come back to us a day before the deadline, and thus we can't do it", what I mean is "I will be working over night so that we can make this deadline and then look like 'rock stars'."
Cause I give a fuck about that.
