This is mostly here so I can write my report when I get back, so ignore if you wish. The conference was good. Due to late dinner and traffic we missed the meet and greet part. But we did arrive right on time for the start. The main guy, the one the organizes this chapter, talked about the issues of converting Quark and Pagemaker files into InDesign. Not a really new topic for us, but it was riddled with useful bits of information. Like telling us about the Component Information box and that the InDesign Interchange format is actually an XML file (which gives me the idea of using it to figure out how to make footnotes in XML).
The second speaker was a Software Engineer for Adobe here in the Twin Cities. He talked about how to make Interactive (i.e. with buttons, movies, sound clips, etc.) PDFs in InDesign. While not overly useful for actual production or projects, Bill will love this to replace Power Point for his presentations. He's always complaininng about the poor typesetting in Power Point.
After the seminars I met the main oraganizer guy, gave him my name and he will forward it on to a woman in Madison that is working with the Milwaukee chapter so the two of us can talk about a Madison chapter. I also won a book in the raffle, not an overly useful one, but one I can put in my library.
I also forgot how emotional my sister is. We didn't fight at all, it was nice to see her but she had a small fight with her fiancee. Too sensitive, much like me and Mom.
