Well, I am putting in an offer on the house that is two blocks from [livejournal.com profile] rilawiks today. Drew and Wendy's only comment was the noise that it gets from the near by highway. But I am not expecting to find the perfect house. Just one I like. I can live with a little noise. Nate will be living with me, which is why I can afford a 3 bedroom.

I don't think I'm rushing this, but between the fact that most of the houses in my price range are in such poor condition and that the other house I liked already has two offers on it since I looked at it, I think it's time to move on it.

*crosses fingers*

our new apartment faces hwy 30/commercial, and it's pretty close. but the noise isn't too bad.... you can't hear it at all in the house. of course, it prolly depends on the type of insulation you have but from our (limited) experience, it's not a big deal.

Inside the house the noise is fine. It's very loud outside, which was Wendy's comment. But I mentioned that if I'm going to hang out outside, I'll just walk the two blocks to their house and sit on their porch. I might try and plant some everygreens along the road to help block out the noise.

Good luck! I remember when Ryan and I were looking at houses. I was starting to get really disappointed too. Everything that was in our price range just wasn't want we wanted or as you said was run down. I was so excited when we found the house we did. Yes, the house needed and still needs some fixing up. But when you do some of the work yourself and its yours, you just feel that much better when it's done. Let us know if you need any help. I wish you the best on the house!
