Nov. 17th, 2011 04:24 pmI’ve been enjoying a new webseries in the last few months called Standard Action. I really like it. I’ve heard it compared to The Guild, and I agree, it’s nowhere near that level. But The Guild also does not run around in the woods in armor fighting monsters. It’s a very meta D&D storyline. The characters are living in the D&D world, but they refer to which spells they have memorized, and things like that. Good camera work, great costumes (even the monsters). Their writing could use some work, but it's not bad. it's pretty cheesy too, but I like that, reminds me of playing D&D in college and how everyone acted then.
My favorite character is Martin, because a) he’s a druid--I always love druids--and b) he is in full costume (like all of the characters) but also wears chucks. (When I tweeted that cool fact they replied to me claiming Mitch says it's "boots of elven kind". Which is great fan interaction.) The first season is done, and all 13 episodes are online. They are collecting money to have a second season, and I hope they do. They also have an active twitter and Facebook.
Rating: A
Edit: Had druid's name wrong, been a few days since I saw the last one. Sorry, my bad! (Favorite character, clearly.)
