Dec. 7th, 2010 11:16 amThe post office job was a bit different than I expected. When we had the tour I saw people sitting in front of large machine, putting mail into the correct slots. Instead I worked on packages, and that should be what I do most nights. Basically we have large bins of packages, and the surrounding that (in like a 30 foot circle) we have bags and boxes with zip codes to sort them into. A lot of walking on concrete and lifting boxes. We also have to then tie up the bags when they are full and move them to the next station. All of the people were nice and helpful. Still very unorganized though. I was told I could work overtime if I wanted, but by the time that was to start my supervisor was gone and the next one in that area didn't have anything for us to do. My feet hurt a bit, and my lips and hands are cracked from drying out from the conditions. I'll survive, but it's not "fun" work. It dose go fairly quickly though.
I'm not sure if I'd have made it still working full time at Laserwords. As it is it will be hard to do all of the other things (unemployment, job hunt, work at the mall, etc.) that I need to do. It's only for a month.
