Jun. 30th, 2010 02:32 pmI'm listening to the podiobook Lost Gods by Drew Beatty, and I'll have a full review later when it's done (I am enjoying it). It's very American Gods by Gaimen, not as good, but similar theme, and well done. It's making me want to play in a role-playing game where everyone gets to play declining gods surviving in the modern world. Best system that I can think of would be to just use the Ethereal rules from In Nomine, probably with some game world changes, moving the demons and angels back into Heaven and Hell and leaving the corporeal world to the play ground of these small gods. Though it could work as a free form game too, sans-rules, a la the HP games I've been in.
I'd have to think about it a bit, come up with a good plot. Try to think of one that isn't too much a copy of Gaimen's story. Might make a good online game, I wouldn't think there'd be much combat or action, more talking and plotting. Lots of political workings, no one wanting to sacrifice themself too much and thus being cautious.
Something to think on, probably means I'll be wanting to read American Gods again soon.
