Goblin Market by Jennifer Hoduck is good, classic fantasy. Many themes that I've seen before, nothing horribly unique or odd in her take of the fantasy elements that are in the story, but that isn't a bad thing. This allows the listener to focus on the story and plot and not have to figure out "how these elves are different than all the other elves".
There are some issues with sound quality and music blending. Also not all of the episodes are on the iTunes feed, so I had to search out a few on her website. But that wasn't too difficult.
The prose is a bit flowery, in my opinion. Though this isn't a happy story with unicorns and rainbows, it's quite dark and a very cool tone over all. I love the Sir Guideon (sp?) character, he rolls his eyes at the over the top romance as often as I do. I can handle high romance if it doesn't take itself too seriously. I would have preferred more action and less flirting.
Unfortunately the last few episodes don't seem to be in the iTunes feed, so I'll have to watch the author's website for new releases. I prefer to listen to completed books, in general, but didn't look into that before I had started this. The rest of the review will have to wait until the rest are posted.
Partial Grade: B-
