Dec. 28th, 2009 03:39 pmIt was a good trip north to the family. Roads were kinda icy on the way up, saw 3 cars in the ditch, and smashed police car and a semi trailer with it's wheels and axels detached. We made OK time though.
Had the Jokinen family Christmas, lots of food and decent gifts (I got a box of Franzia in the gift exchange, not one of the better choices). Also had a lot of one-on-one time with Jack, which was cool. Paul got to experience the absolute desolation that is my home town, a true Finnish sauna (105 C), and staying at our family's hunting cabin / ski lodge. It's only a one room cabin with 2 bunk beads and an indoor bathroom. But it's cozy and secluded.
On Sunday we had just my immediate family (Laura, Jack, Rob, mom and dad, Paul and I). That was good too. Mom and Dad seemed more receptive of Paul.
All in all a good trip. In two weeks we are going to the Twin Cities to see his family, as long as my vacation gets approved.
Work is a big mess, none of it is my fault, so my project is stopped. Gonna go and be a cog in someone else's project for a bit until the client gets things working again.
