Work is work, same as always.

Early softball tonight, so I can only work 10 hours. Hopefully that is enough.

It was way cool going to Angela's grad party on Saturday and meeting someone I've only known online till now. Very cool.

I played well in volleyball on Sunday, but other team members were having a bad day, so we lost all 3 games. No biggie. Sore today though, too much diving on my part.

I'm normally not a Kirk/Spock fan, but this icon is soooo cool, I had to grab it.

I also wanted to give a longer review of the podiobook(s) I just finished. Anyone that likes high-fantasy should listen to The Prophet of Panamindorah. There are three books, all free. While the summary makes it sound like it's your typical "kid falls into a fantasy world" kinda of story, it ends up being more focused on the politics and events of a war between the races. Yet with a lot of action. Very well done, and a good original world. There is enough classical fantasy elements that people can understand, but enough new races and world rules that it's interesting. A new darker more adult novel is on the way. Same world, but completely different continent and people (kinda like Mercedes Lackey's Harpers and Birdfolk). There are a few short stories too.

High fantasy? Politics? I'm there! Thanks for the link.

H1!

It's totally cool, and if you read/listen and post a review, you get into a contest! Thus the review.

But it's a great story, I got though all three books in a week.

Hey, Jason! :)

I did kind of soft-pitch that book - probably because the classic YA description could be easily understood in a few sentences, while the real meat of the story gets complicated.

Anyway, I hope you'll stick around for Cowry Catchers. Thanks for the review!

I was a little leary about starting it, it sounded a bit young audience to me, but I'm happy I gave it a try.

Can't wait till Crowy Catchers. I'll have to relisten to Sigler's books till then.

Friended you, btw. And if it's not too stalker-like, will add you on facebook too. I figure it'll be the easiest to keep up on updates.

Oh, not stalk-like at all. I always worry when I reply directly on listener's journals that I'm intruding. I think I've weirded out a few people, so I don't do it now unless the listener pointed me at it. Anyway, yes, my facebook and twitter pages exist mostly so that people can keep track of me. Friend away.

Sigler or me, huh? That is funny. Can I interest you in any of the short fiction podcasts? The Drabblecast and the Dunesteef are doing voice acting for me, and Escapepod and Pseudopod are just fun. :)

Not just Sigler, but I'm going back over his stuff. I love the Rookie and have heard it like 3 times. This is what I listen to at work instead of music.

I also love Metamorph city, Playing for Keeps, Space Casey, Nina Kimberly, etc. I have a harder time listening to "informative" or "talk radio" podcasts like Escapepod or Psuedopod, as it requires more attention, or so I've found. I've not heard of Drabblecast though, will check it out. Thanks!

I also down load a lot of audio fanfiction to keep my mind occupide during boring work.

All good stuff. To the book list, I'd also add J.D. Sawyer's Antithesis and Nathan Lowell's Solar Clipper books. Nathan is voicing my protagonist in Cowry Catchers. His work is a lot more gentle and literary that most other podiobooks, but still delightful.

Escapepod and Pseudopod are short fiction (sci-fi and horror respectively)...not really talk, although they do have chatter at the beginning and end. I sometimes fastforward through that, although I like Alistair Stewart's voice. He sounds like Neil Gaiman. :) The Dunesteef has a _lot_ of chatter, but always at the end. There's a story in there somewhere, I promise. Short fiction is not everyone's bag. You'll find stories you love and also stories that kind of wasted your time.

I've heard of the first, but not the second. Thanks for the recs, I'll check them out.

I'll have to try those two short story feeds also, sometimes one doesn't want a long story.
