As a nice parting gesture, my boss at the WCA gave me today off. I didn't have anything left to do, so he told me to turn in my key at the end of yesterday and thanks for working for them. I'll be back for freelancing stuff until the get my replacement. So I have an unexpected Friday off!

Had to get up earlish since I have an appointment this morning, but that's OK. I want to get a bunch of house chores done today. Have things to fix and clean. I hope it gets nice enough so I can mow the lawn too.

My last project at the WCA was to move my office. They decided that the receptionist should have the front office instaed of the reception area. So I got moved to a back office. This means no more window and no more natural light. Which is OK, since I'm leaving, but I'd not want to stay. It also means that my monitor now faces the door to the office. The door faces the hall way that has at the other end the boss's office. Thus no more net screwing off this week. I can check email, but I can't really read any of the blogs I like to since they tend to post pics of guys in swim suits and such.

Also I'm hot and sweaty now cause I've been moving furniture and boxes all morning. Two days and I'm gone.

And today might end up being a short day as the cable guy is supposed to come to my place at 1:00. The actual time is 1 to 5, so if he's late I guess I'll just call in and tell them I can't make it back. Means unpaid time, but oh well.

Good weekend, tired now.

Friday drove north to mom and dad's, listened to spellcast most of the way, HP fanfic read on a podcast. Lots of family all weekend. The reception went well. I didn't speak or anything, just not the right set up for that. Saw many people, talked a lot, drank much beer. Drove back down here at 9:30 Sunday morning. Got to the softball coaches meeting on time. Pitched for like an hour straight. I was helping out at the hitting station. Was very tired, dusty and sore after that so I didn't play in the pick up game. Have at least 2 blisters per foot, if not more. Went down to the Shamrock for dinner, said HI to non-softball friends. Then went to Club 5 for Miss Gay Madison pagent. Had my own table down front (it's good to know people). Drank some more, talked more, danced after the show was done. Saw Adam, he had some boy with him that I don't remember the name. I was right to figure that nothing was going to happen with him. Tired and very sore today.

At like 3:00 Friday I got what is probably my last project at the WCA. They are going to move my office to another office. So I have to go though everything in the drawers here and figure out what is keepable, what is trash and what I don't know about and have to have someone else look at. Now why I didn't get that earlier in the week, no clue. But that is what I'm doing this week. Looking forward to next week and new job.

Put in my 2 weeks notice. Was recieved with surprise but support. Now I have to get everything in order so it can run on autopiolt if needed.

Last night the drag show was a lot of fun. Sam never told me that Zeb had won Mr. Capitol City and the show last night was a fundraiser to send him onto Mr. Gay Wisconsin. Since Sam was performing and I know Zeb, I hung out with the performers after the show. Tons of fun. And Mr. Gay Midwest was really hot. He did a number in just briefs. I actually thought he was a drag king in his first number, but mostly because he wasn't in drag and I thought it was an all drag show. He might have been stuffing also.

I've been keeping this quiet so as to not jinx it. Yesterday after work I had my second interview with Four Lakes Color Graphics, the company that [livejournal.com profile] exarian works for. I had my first innterview about 2 months ago. There I told them that I needed to wait until the spring convention was over and I returned from Jamaica. Anyway, I met with Todd, the Imaging Assembly Manager and the president off the company. We talked about my XML experience and time over in India. They reallly wanted me to be the 2nd shift supervisor. That would be cool, I've never had that much managment experience and it would be an interesting experience. But it would cut into my volleyball and softball time, so I told them that I'd be willing to split that shift with someone else. They offerend me a job anyway, I'd start out as genral production but I think they have plans for me to move into working with XML (they are just starting up using that due to customer demand). I'll be making more than I am at the WCA and I think I will enjoy the work and autmosphere more. On Monday I will put in my 2 weeks notice and then I will start the new job in 14 days!

I'm very excited.

Today I have a lot of chores written done on my list to do, but a lot of fun things too. And I have two days to get it all done.

My horrible spelling has gotten the best of me again. I had to print out invitation cards and matching envelopes for a new program comeing up. So after printing out all 300 or so, stuffing them into the envelopes, sealing and stamping, we find two typos on the envelope. So I have to print the envelopes again, open and then restuff, seal and stamp them again.

I should not be allowed to type anything.

Web programing and desktop layout types, I ask for your opinions...

I am putting a big book online.
There will be no page numbers.
It is being indexed.
Each section will be its own web page.

How should I lay out the index when I have one term that goes to different spots?
- list the term many times? (i.e. Drugs, Drugs, Drugs)
- number them? (i.e. Drugs, (1), (2), (3))
- use the page numbers from the printed book?
- then the question is leave them on one line or sepearte into many lines?

Also, do you think (and this is a more technical HTML question) that I can use generic IDs (i.e. id0001, id0002, id0003) or should I try and make them human readable (i.e. #drugs, #infectiousdrugs, #drugs2)? I will have an Excel sheet with all the IDs and the terms they go to in an archive.

We've recently been putting up the class notes for our continuing education courses at work online so the doctors can download and study them before the class. I had to take a tech support call today. The guy sounded kinda young, late 20s or 30s, so this conversation surprised me.

me: "So, now that you've saved the file from the adobe site to install Adobe Reader, go to your desktop."
dr: "Um, I'm not sure where my desktop is."
me: *headdesk*

I might suggest a basic computer course for these doctors, maybe I'll offer to teach it and make lots of money.

On week from today at this time I will be in the air on the way to Jamaica. w00t!

Week is turing crazy busy, I'm very happy I relaxed on Sunday night. I think I'll have to do that Friday night too. Between packing, softball, volleyball, theater and Apex... busy boy.

I'm not sure if I am packing too much for the trip. It has been decided that we will check lugauge (even though I worry about that). But I am going for 7 days, days which will have beach activities, hiking activities, night clubs, shopping and a wedding. So the 6' by 9' area of my bedroom covered in clothes I'm bringing dosen't seem too much. I worry I'm being a bit too gay here... oh well, stick with what you know, I guess.

And I have just been infomred that we are taking a field trip up to Wisconsin Dells to check out the location of the Fall convention. While this should be interesting, I had planned on doing some stuff today. Oh well.

I really have no interest in working today. I'd rather goof off online or soemthing. And today I actually have things that can occupy my time. Nothing has to be done today, but things could be.

When I arrived at work this morning I noticed a bunch of our company's letter head laying on the ground. After a few more employees showed up we wondered areound out side and collected a garbage bag full of them. The top of the recycling bin was open and they all blew out. Most cold and annoying.

We now have over 80 people signed up for softball, which is at least 6 teams, maybe 8. I don't think I'll have to do anymore recruiting drives. Granted the volleyball drives will be starting next. Yeah for me. Me and Bob were actually talking about how tired we are of being out at the gay clubs every night. Tonight is sitting at home time. I was happy to hear that the volleyball posters I made have been getting a lot of attention. People seem to like them, they "catch the eye." Might have something to do with the naked male chest on it with the guy holding a volleyball. Perhaps.

Might hit the gym tonight, we'll see. Very odd how last week I went 4 times and this week I might go once. Taking a break from tanning for a day or two, I have stingy pink areas that need to heal a bit before they are subjected to the tanning bed again.

Rob and I have moved to friends who can chat. He seem more comfortable with me not being quiet as obvious with my interest. Move another guy from the "datable" list to "friend".
