I'm not sure if I really like this new season of Torchwood. The story is good, I do want to know what happens, but it's just missing something, some chemistry with only Gwen and Jack there. I know there are other American members, but I don't really like them. And I've never really liked Gwen. I'll keep watching it, but not sure I want to own it.

Last week was some parts slow at work and some really, really busy. Ended up working a 14 hour day on Thursday. Friday was my company summer picnic. It's so nice being a part of a place that can afford to do things like that for it's employees. They catered in BBQ chicken sandwiches, sides and beer (good beer too). They even had a ice cream truck there that gave out what ever ice cream you wanted. My coworkers got to met Paul, and vice versa.

Last night we also met some friends out for drinks at the Ale Asylum, nice to just hang out and talk again.

Got the lawn mowed after working at the mall this morning. And then I got to watch Torchwood: Miracle Day, episode 1. It was great. And it's awesome that I can watch it on starz.com, without and commercials. I'm looking forward to next week.

International Torchwood confirmed!

BBC Wales, BBC Worldwide and US premium entertainment network Starz Entertainment have just announced a three way partnership that will develop a new series of Torchwood. The new series of ten episodes will be written by Russell T Davies and produced and distributed by BBC Worldwide.

John will return in his role of Captain Jack along with Eve Myles as Gwen. Additional cast are still to be announced.

Storylines will include locations in the US and around the world and the show will air on both Starz and BBC One in summer 2011.

It's a full 10-episode season! Probably no Ianto, but hopefully it will still be cool. Maybe we can get some flash backs...

Nothing to do at work right now, it's the calm before the storm of next week when I get to work over night shifts. Fun, fun. I do have some industry magazines and emails to read, plus I got a WACOM tablet to try out. It's from a computer of someone who left, but I've never used one before and thought I should try it.

I get to see Becky tonight, she's coming up for dinner and to pick up the syrup I got for her from mom and dad.

Softball went well last night. We won again, we've only lost one game this season. The team is still having fun together, which is the important part. We thought we had gotten a new player too. One of our original players never showed up, and a new girl came up to us and told us she was to play with us. She seemed very cool and was a good player, though she had to adjust from fast pitch to slow pitch. But after the game the Commissioner told us she was supposed to play on Gold, not Yellow. Which is a bummer, we need another player and she was great. I'm hoping she asks to stay with us. Not sure if that will do anything, but we'd love to keep her.

Torchwood: Children of Earth sucked. Not happy at all, even after a full night's sleep.

I went to bed pissed and am still upset.

cut for TW and DW spoilers and general ranting )

Now I can read some of the thoughts from other fandom people, but I think it will take some pretty convincing arguments to keep me in fandom. I think this mini-series is enough to drive me away. I've never been a fan of AU stories, so I can't even fall back on that.

The house is chaos, I can't find anything, I have small varnish stains on me and my dog is going stir crazy from being locked up. But! We have 3 coats on the kitchen cabinets and it looks pretty good. I'm not actually upset about any of that, though not being able to use my kitchen is driving me a bit insane. It will hopefully be done after one more coat and we can put everything away tonight.

I watched two episodes of TW:CoE last night while the varnish was drying. I like it so far. Lots of action. I'd like a bit more Janto and more character development, though I really enjoyed the insights into Ianto and Jack's pasts. I know I have 3 more episodes, though I'm a bit worried about episode 4. I have no idea (and would like to keep it that way) what big thing pissed a lot of people off, and I hope I don't mind it as much.

Back at work, time to make the pages...

Some days I wish I could just go home after a long day at work and relax. But I just won't let myself do that. I get home and see the 3 million things that need to be done. And then I try and do some of them.

Also, mowing the lawn was not letting my ankle rest. It's still swollen.

We are also in war with the DVR. It refuses to record Torchwood! We set it up to record, make it the highest priority, nothing else is scheduled to record, and nothing happens. Or even worse it records something neither of us have ever heard of. I need to sit down with it and kick it's settings into shape.

So I've missed the first 3 days of Torchwood now, and BBCA is editing out 30 minutes from each episode when they reply them. WTF? I do have it burned to disk from downloads of the British airing, but I'm sure the quality would be better from BBCA. Very annoyed with it now.

OMG, this rocks.

The first two seasons of Torchwood summed up on Facebook pages. I love it.

They will do ones for the season 3 episodes as they air on BBCA.

Yep, I don't trust the Saturn dealership. Might stop going there for oil changes even. They quoted $360 to fix a major belt in the car. The garage down the road is doing it for $100. :eye roll:

I get great enjoyment out of reading the [livejournal.com profile] ask_captainjack (Ask Captain Jack -- a spoof where Jack from Torchwood answers questions sent in by fans) and [livejournal.com profile] ask_aboutcoffee (Ask Abotu Coffee -- another spoof where Ianto basically complains about being in Torchwood and dating Jack) blogs. Today Jack was discussing Harry Potter:

"Harry's best friends are Ron, Bella, Dumbledore and Robert Pattinson. Robert Pattinson and Harry are on the Quidditch team together. (A secret you learn about RPattz later is that he's a vampire. He sparkles by wand-light. I squee when it happens and you will too.)"

lulz!

I had three different post for the Torchwood season 3 trailer today on my flist. Good to wake up to. Looks good, a bit different/darker/more action tone, IMO. I'm quiet excited.

Yesterday I got squat done at work. Between the client's server being down, round robin email thread and general computer crashes, it was not good. Here' hoping today is better, even if I'm only leaving after 8 hours.

I hope the weekend is fun and stress free. I could use it.
